CROWNSVILLE, MD — The Anne Arundel Food & Resources Bank officially joined the Maryland Food Bank’s network at a ceremony on December 17, 2013. Representatives from both organizations cut the ribbon on the first delivery of food—more than 40,000 pounds of USDA foods, like canned vegetables and soup, plus fresh donated produce.

The partnership is expected to greatly increase the amount of healthy, nutritious food reaching Anne Arundel County families in need. Currently 43,730 county residents are food insecure; nearly half are children. The Maryland Food Bank’s distribution to the county has increased by 85 percent from last year to this year.
