MFB to Deliver 80,000+ Meals Through Statewide Summer Clubs

Baltimore—As the school year comes to an end, so do the free breakfast and lunch programs that many Maryland children rely on. To bridge the gap until the next school year and ensure children have access to nutritious food year-round, the Maryland Food Bank (MFB) will deliver approximately 80,000 meals through its Summer Club Program at more than 50 sites across central Maryland and the Eastern Shore this summer.

Baltimore—Today marks the start of the Maryland Food Bank’s 2017 Save a Seat at Your Table campaign, a statewide effort focused on mobilizing restaurants to raise awareness and support for ending hunger in Maryland. On any given day, one in eight Marylanders don’t know where their next meal will come from, while one in five children don’t have consistent access to nutritious food.

Baltimore—The Maryland Food Bank, the largest charitable food provider in Maryland, today announced the appointment of Carmen Del Guercio as its new president and chief executive officer. He accepted the position effective Dec. 12, 2016, and will lead the entire operation of the food bank, which has an annual budget of approximately $78 million and a 37-year history feeding the hungry in Maryland.
