Twenty-eight years ago, the late Larry Adam founded Harvest for the Hungry, a year-round campaign focused on Maryland’s food-insecure population. His motto was, “Hunger takes no holiday,” and the Spring Forward Food Drive, meant to replenish the shelves once holiday donations have been distributed, is an extension of that message. With more than 773,000 Marylanders experiencing food insecurity, or uncertainty over their next meal, help is needed more than ever.
This year’s Spring Forward Food Drive will run from Saturday, February 28 through Sunday, March 8 across Maryland.
How you can help: Purchase a pre-packaged bag of food for $10 at your local Safeway, where AARP and Girl Scout volunteers will be stationed; drop off food donations at post offices; and donate food through our virtual food drive.
