The Eastern Shore encompasses eight of the twenty-one counties we serve in the state of Maryland, and is home to nearly 45,000 individuals who are food insecure. We’re dedicated to helping them reach their full potential by expanding our hunger relief efforts in the region with a $1.5 million investment in infrastructure and operational improvements.

Food Lion Hosts Great Pantry Makeover at Hope Fellowship Church

In celebration of Hunger Action Month, Food Lion Feeds hosted their second annual “The Great Pantry Makeover” contest—and a Maryland Food Bank’s partner, Hope Fellowship, was one of 30 lucky feeding agencies to win. The $3,500 grant from Food Lion Feeds will help build the Millington pantry’s capacity to store and distribute food.

In mid-july the growing season is in full swing and farmers and retailers find themselves hard-pressed to keep up with the ever-ripening fields. The Maryland Food Bank’s Farm to Food Bank Program taps into this overflow, and, with the help of volunteers, we harvest and distribute excess produce that might otherwise go to waste.
