The Maryland Food Bank’s outreach programs have been strategically designed to provide nutrition and empowerment to the most vulnerable populations in our society. Whether your passion is for nutrition, education, agriculture, or work development, our holistic programs aim to weave food-assistance into the fabrics of communities, providing a strong foundation for the future.
FARM TO FOOD BANK
$50 to $5,000 of local produce The Maryland Food Bank’s Farm to Food Bank Program partners with local farmers to provide hungry Marylanders with fresh produce. Farmers can donate excess crops, commit to growing for us, and allow MFB volunteers to glean fields for left over produce. Now you can be part of the Farm to Food Bank Network, too – by helping us purchase produce from local farmers! $50 dollars can support a small plot of produce, and you can donate up to one acre of fresh fruits and vegetables with a $5,000 contribution.
Pantry On the Go
$500 per drop
The Pantry on the Go program mobilizes food resources, allowing the Maryland Food Bank to distribute large amounts of food directly to communities in need. On average, this program can provide more than 6,000 pounds of produce and nonperishable foods in a single drop, feeding about 200 families; however, a large Pantry on the Go site can serve up to 2,000 families in a single day.
Youth Hunger Relief
$2,500 for one annual school pantry
The School Pantry program is an innovative partnership between the Maryland Food Bank and schools in Maryland whereby we supply food on a monthly basis to food-insecure families through a school pantry staffed by parent volunteers. A rapidly growing program with 178 schools throughout the state, we distributed more than 1.8 million meals through our School Pantries this year.
