  • September is Hunger Action Month
  • The Maryland Food Bank today kicked off Hunger Action Month, a month dedicated to raising awareness and taking action against hunger in our communities.  September is the month designated by Feeding America and its network of more than 200 food banks nationally to highlighting the issue of hunger and how the public can join the fight by taking steps in their own communities to ensure that the issue of hunger is addressed and that people in need know that resources are there to help.

  • Maryland Food Bank Announces New Chair of Board, New Board Members

  • The Maryland Food Bank today announced several changes to the constitution of its board of directors, most notably the election of a new chair.  Phil Andrews, managing principal of Kramon & Graham, P.A., replaces Martin P. Brunk, who completed his five-year term as chair.

  • Maryland Food Bank Celebrates Grand Opening of Community Kitchen

    The Maryland Food Bank celebrated the grand opening and ribbon cutting for its 6,000 square foot community kitchen. The space includes a culinary kitchen, classroom space and offices. The community kitchen will take food donated from caterers, hotels and other retail sources and turn it into family-style, prepared meals for the Maryland Food Bank’s network partners of soup kitchens, food pantries and feeding programs. The project has received funding support from Baltimore City, the State of Maryland, McCormick & Company, Gill-Simpson, The Wachovia Wells Fargo Foundation and the Charles T. Bauer Foundation.
