Warehouse Volunteers
Warehouse volunteers sort food drive and salvage daily. They check for proper labels and "best if used by" or expiration dates, wash cans and bottles if necessary, and re-pack this food for distribution to food providers throughout the state of Maryland. Food providers manage soup kitchens, pantries, and day shelters. All new volunteers are oriented and trained before beginning work.
Office Volunteers
Office volunteers prepare large mailings – includes folding letters, stuffing and sealing envelopes, labeling envelopes, metering envelopes with postage. Volunteers also sort donation slips and enter data into our donor database.
Special Volunteer Needs
From time to time, the Maryland Food Bank has specific volunteer needs, including: volunteers with trucks or large vehicles to pick up food drive donations from local companies and organizations, or to deliver collection barrels and posters to an organization planning a food drive. These volunteer opportunities may be ongoing and may require specific skills. Click here to learn more.
