A portion of the Maryland Food Bank's inventory is donated in-kind by retailers, manufacturers, wholesalers and farmers. Unfortunately, donated quantities are not enough to meet the need. We must supplement those limited inventories with foods that hungry Marylanders need most, including peanut butter, cereal and canned fruits and vegetables.

As you can imagine, purchasing food is more expensive than receiving it as a donation and these costs are shared by our network partners – soup kitchens and pantries that are struggling to serve more people than ever before. To support network partners and ensure that higher costs do not lead to decreases in services, the Maryland Food Bank launched the Purchase-Share Program.

Purchase-Share food subsidies provide a dollar-for-dollar match when agencies order food, doubling the amount of food they receive.

Your donation to the Purchase-Share Food Subsidies Program will stretch local agencies' dollars farther and guarantee a steady stream of high-quality, nutrient rich foods to families in need statewide.
